Refurbished iPhone 14: is it worth it in 2026, and where to buy one?

The iPhone 14 came out in 2022, and Apple no longer sells it new: its UK store had nothing older than the iPhone 16 on 04/10/2026. Refurbished, it is one of the cheapest ways to an iPhone that still runs Apple's current software. We read every seller we compare on 14/10/2026, by grade, for the iPhone 14 and the larger 14 Plus.

Is a refurbished iPhone 14 worth it in 2026?

Yes, if you want a capable iPhone for the least money. Apple's iOS 27 page, read on 14/10/2026, lists the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus among the phones that run it. What the 14 does not get is Apple Intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, and it charges over Lightning, not the USB-C of the iPhone 15.

Read on each seller's own pages on 14/10/2026 (Back Market through a page reader, as it showed us a security check). The eBay phones came from UK business sellers with 30 days' returns. Back Market adds a Quality Assurance Fee at checkout. musicMagpie's own pages did not load for us that day; at our check at about 01:00 UK on 14/10/2026 it had the 14 at £299.99 and the 14 Plus at £289.99.

Where to buy a refurbished iPhone 14 in the UK

• eBay. Many refurbishers, graded Good, Very Good or Excellent. The £234.99 iPhone 14 came from a UK business seller with 30 days' returns; check each listing for its warranty.
• Back Market. Refurbishers it vets, graded Fair, Good, Excellent and Premium. Its iPhone 14 page on 14/10/2026 gave a 12-month seller warranty and free 30-day returns.
• Amazon Renewed. Phones from marketplace sellers under the Amazon Renewed Guarantee, a year's cover if one is faulty (as our Back Market vs Amazon Renewed guide reported on 17/09/2026). Both phones were graded Excellent on 14/10/2026.
• Currys. Sells its own refurbished iPhone 14 in Good and Excellent condition, the dearest of these on 14/10/2026 at £369 and £449. Check the listing for its warranty.

iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Plus?

The 14 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen against the 14's 6.1 inches, and a bigger battery to go with it. Refurbished, it cost about £37 to £45 more on 14/10/2026: £280 against £234.99 on eBay, and £282 against £245 at Back Market at the Fair grade. At musicMagpie our early check had it the other way round, the Plus at £289.99 and the 14 at £299.99, so look at both before you choose.

Which grade should you buy?

Fair or Good, and spend the difference on the battery. On a phone from 2022, the battery matters more than the marks. At Back Market on 14/10/2026 the iPhone 14 cost £245 in Fair and £266 in Excellent, while a new battery took the Fair phone to £296; on the 14 Plus a new battery added only £10 (£292 against £282). Since we started tracking on 13/09/2026, the line has stayed between £221 (29/09/2026 to 02/10/2026) and £260 (23/09/2026), always on a refurbished phone, and it has sat at £234.99 since 11/10/2026.

What to do

1. Decide whether you need Apple Intelligence or USB-C: if you do, look at a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro or newer instead.
2. If not, compare eBay, Back Market and musicMagpie on the same day; the cheapest iPhone 14 was under £250 on 14/10/2026.
3. Pay for a new battery, or ask for the battery health, before paying for a better grade.
4. Buy from a business with a warranty and at least 14 days to return it, and check the screen and battery when it arrives.
