Refurbished iPhone Air UK: where to buy it and what it costs
On 03/10/2026 a refurbished 256GB iPhone Air started at £619.99 against £799 new at the big shops. Who sells one, the grades and cover, and whether the price is falling.

On this page
The iPhone Air has been on sale for a year, which is long enough for traded-in and returned phones to come back as refurbished stock. Searches for a refurbished Air are starting to appear, and so are the questions around them: where to buy a used one, where it is cheapest, and whether the price is about to fall. Here is what we found on 03/10/2026, read on each seller's own page that day unless a line says otherwise.
Can you buy a refurbished iPhone Air yet?
Yes, from four of the sellers OwlyFinds compares: musicMagpie, Back Market, Amazon Renewed and eBay's refurbished programme all had a 256GB Air in stock on 03/10/2026.
Apple's own refurbished store did not. On 03/10/2026 its UK refurbished iPhone page listed the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 16 and 16 Pro Max, and no iPhone Air or iPhone 17. Apple's refurbished phones come with a new battery, a new outer shell and a one-year warranty, so if you want one of those, check the page again later. We do not compare Apple's store, so it will not appear in the prices below.
Where to buy a refurbished or used iPhone Air in the UK
The cheapest 256GB Air at each refurbished seller on 03/10/2026:
| Seller | Grade and cover |
|---|---|
| musicMagpie, £619.99 | Very Good; 12-month warranty, 14-day money back, battery at least 80% |
| Back Market, £624 | Price read 02/10/2026; 1 year from delivery, 30-day returns |
| eBay Refurbished, £629.99 | Good, from a business seller; one-year guarantee, 30-day returns |
| Amazon Renewed, £655 | Premium, from a marketplace seller; Renewed Guarantee, 30-day returns |
At musicMagpie, £619.99 bought Very Good in Cloud White, Light Gold or Sky Blue; Pristine was £669.99, and no Good grade was in stock. At Amazon, Premium is the top Renewed grade; when we read Amazon's terms on 21/09/2026, Premium promised more than 90% of the battery's original capacity. A grade word means different things at different sellers, so read what each one's grades cover before you compare them on price.
Used is a different purchase. OwlyFinds does not list second hand phones, but eBay has plenty: on 03/10/2026 the cheapest pre-owned 256GB Air on Buy It Now, located in the UK, was £528.94 with free delivery, and several more sat between £525 and £550 plus £11.95 delivery. That is about £90 under the cheapest refurbished one. What you give up is the cover: a phone bought from a private seller only has to be as described, with no warranty and no six-month presumption that a fault was there when you bought it. Refurbished vs second hand explains which rights come with each, and how to buy safely on eBay covers the seller checks.

How much cheaper is a refurbished iPhone Air?
Against the shops, about £180. On 03/10/2026 a new 256GB Air was £799 at Amazon (sold by Amazon), Argos and Currys, and our read of AO on 02/10/2026 was also £799. John Lewis lists it at £799 but had none in stock. The cheapest refurbished one, musicMagpie's Very Good at £619.99, was £179.01 less.
Against Apple, a lot more. Apple's UK store charged £1,099 for the 256GB Air on 03/10/2026, £300 more than the shops for the same new phone, so a refurbished one was £479.01 under Apple's price.
Two things narrow the gap:
- The better grades cost more. musicMagpie's Pristine at £669.99 and Amazon's Renewed Premium at £655 save £129.01 and £144 against a new one from a shop.
- eBay sellers sell new ones for less too. On 03/10/2026 the cheapest new Air on our page was £639.10 plus £11.95 delivery from a private seller taking no returns, £148.95 under the shops. It is a new phone, but it comes with a private seller's rights, not a shop's.

Will the iPhone Air price drop?
We do not forecast prices, but here is what the price has done so far.
- Apple's price has gone up, not down. Apple announced the Air at £999 on 09/09/2025. Its UK store asked £1,099 for the 256GB on 19/09/2026 and again on 03/10/2026.
- The shops have held £799. Amazon and John Lewis were at £799 on 09/09/2026, the day we started tracking the Air, and Currys and Argos were at £799 when we first read them on 17/09/2026. On 03/10/2026 all four still listed £799.
- Refurbished has moved within a narrow band. The cheapest refurbished Air on our page has been between £590 and £650 every day since 13/09/2026. The lowest was £590, an eBay listing on 18/09/2026.
So the shops' £799 has been the steady price for at least three and a half weeks, and refurbished prices move by tens of pounds from day to day as listings come and go. The chart shows the cheapest new or refurbished price we held each day:
What to do
- Decide how much the cover is worth to you: refurbished brings a year's warranty, second hand from a private seller brings almost nothing.
- Compare the refurbished sellers on the same grade, not the headline price, and read the battery line on the listing.
- Check the new price at the shops before you buy refurbished: on 03/10/2026 the saving was £179.01 at best.
- Buy a new Air from a shop, not from Apple, while the shops charge £300 less.
- If no price suits you yet, set a price alert on the product page and choose Refurbished, and we will email you when it drops.
