Xbox prices in the UK: what each console costs now

How much an Xbox costs in the UK: Microsoft's price for the Series X, its Digital Edition and the Series S, what Currys, Argos, Amazon and John Lewis charge, and refurbished prices.

Microsoft Xbox Series S - 1TB
On this page

Microsoft sells three Xbox consoles in the UK: the Series X with a disc drive, the Series X Digital Edition without one, and the Series S, with 1TB or 512GB of storage. Below is what each cost on 06/10/2026 at Microsoft and at the shops we compare, new and refurbished, then how the price has moved and which one to buy. The short version: the shops charge Microsoft's price or within a pound of it, John Lewis undercuts it on two consoles, and Microsoft's own refurbished consoles are the cheapest way in.

How much does an Xbox cost in the UK?

On xbox.com on 06/10/2026, Microsoft charged £669.99 for the Xbox Series X, £619.99 for the Series X Digital Edition and £519.99 for the Series S 1TB, with the 512GB Series S at £429.99. The cheapest new console on our pages that day was the Series S 1TB at £499.99 on eBay from a business seller with 30 days' returns, £19 under Currys and Amazon.

Read on xbox.com and on each shop's own pages on 06/10/2026. Currys listed the Series X with a disc drive at £669, out of stock, and Amazon had no Series X of its own that day. Microsoft limited the Series X and the Series S 1TB to one per customer. Amazon's Series S 1TB was sold by Amazon itself.

Microsoft's prices are its Certified Refurbished consoles as listed on its UK store on 06/10/2026; their product pages did not load that day, so we could not read stock or warranty. Amazon's console came from a marketplace seller, eBay's from a business seller with 30 days' returns and a coupon on the listing that took it to £529.69. Read at source on 06/10/2026.

Xbox Series X vs Series S: what each costs today

The Series X with a disc drive cost £150 more than the Series S 1TB at most shops on 06/10/2026: £669 or £669.99 against £519 or £519.99. The Series X Digital Edition, which has the Series X's power without the drive, sat between them. At John Lewis it was £584.99, £35 under Microsoft's price and £84.01 under John Lewis's own Series X with a drive. Elsewhere it was £619 or £619.99, so the drive itself cost about £50.

That John Lewis price has held: it was £584.99 on 02/10/2026 too. Argos had the Digital Edition at £584.99 on 02/10/2026 and £619.99 on 06/10/2026, so check the day you buy.

Two of the box's rows need a word. The refurbished Series X it showed at £504.75 on 06/10/2026, graded Good from Currys' clearance shop on eBay, had ended at 14:39 that day. And the new Series X it showed at £557.49 is a white console from a private seller taking no returns; the white 1TB Series X is the colour of the Digital Edition, so read the listing before you count on it having a drive.

At the cheap end, the 512GB Series S was £399.99 at John Lewis on 06/10/2026, £30 under Microsoft. It has half the storage of the 1TB model, so for £120 more the 1TB Series S doubles the space for downloaded games.

Has the Xbox price gone up?

Yes. By Microsoft's own account, it raised console prices worldwide on 01/08/2026, after a rise in the US alone in October 2025:

  • 01/08/2026, worldwide. Microsoft announced on Xbox Wire on 25/06/2026 that console prices would rise from 01/08/2026, by US$100 on 512GB models and US$150 on 1TB models, and that it would stop making its 2TB model. It gave no UK prices in the post. It blamed console storage and memory, which it said had risen in price by more than two and a half times.
  • October 2025, in the US. The same post says Microsoft raised US console prices by $20 to $70 "last October".
  • The shops have held Microsoft's price. Currys, Argos and John Lewis charged Microsoft's price or within a pound of it every time we read them, on 02/10/2026 and 06/10/2026, apart from the Digital Edition at £584.99 (Argos and John Lewis on 02/10/2026, John Lewis on 06/10/2026) and the 512GB Series S at £399.99 at John Lewis on 06/10/2026.

Microsoft's post also says it expects storage and memory prices to double again by autumn 2027. That is Microsoft's own expectation, not a forecast of ours, and it says nothing about future console prices.

Here is the cheapest price we have seen each day for the Series X, new and refurbished together:

Since we started tracking on 10/09/2026, the low point on the chart has always been a refurbished or marketplace console, between £449.95 (20/09/2026 to 23/09/2026) and £567.69 (10/09/2026), not a shop changing its price. Black Friday falls on 27/11/2026; we have no shop figures that point to a discount then.

Is a refurbished Xbox worth it?

When it comes from Microsoft, it is the cheapest way to a Series X or Series S we found on 06/10/2026:

  • Microsoft Certified Refurbished. The Series X at £549.99, £119.01 under John Lewis's new price, and the Series S 1TB at £419.99, £99.01 under Currys and Amazon. We could not open the product pages that day, so check stock and the warranty before you order.
  • Amazon Renewed. A Series X graded Good at £579 from a marketplace seller, with five left.
  • eBay. The cheapest refurbished Series X from a UK seller was £588.55, graded Good, from a business seller with 30 days' returns (you pay the return postage), or £529.69 with the coupon on the listing.

So a refurbished Series X from a shop saves £80 to £90 on a new one, and Microsoft's own saves about £120. We found no refurbished Series S 1TB on eBay from a UK seller that day. A grade describes scuffs and marks, not how well the console works: here is what the grades mean, and what changes when you buy second hand.

Which Xbox should you buy?

If you never buy games on disc and play on a 1080p or 1440p TV, the Series S 1TB at £519 is the cheapest way to play this year's games new, or £419.99 refurbished from Microsoft. If you want the Series X's power without discs, the Digital Edition at £584.99 at John Lewis costs £65.99 more than a Series S 1TB. If you own or buy discs, the Series X with a drive at £669 is the one to get, and Microsoft's disc to digital scheme only works on a console with a drive: what that means, and whether you still need the drive.

The box's Amazon row may trail the shop: on 06/10/2026 it held £571.58, while Amazon's own page sold the Series S 1TB at £519, in stock.

What to do

  1. Start with Microsoft's price: £669.99, £619.99, £519.99 or £429.99. A shop at that price or a pound under is not marking it up.
  2. Check John Lewis for the Digital Edition and the 512GB Series S: on 06/10/2026 both were under Microsoft's price there.
  3. Compare Microsoft's Certified Refurbished price before you buy refurbished anywhere else, and check its stock and warranty on the day.
  4. If you buy discs, get a Series X with a drive; if not, compare the Digital Edition with the Series S 1TB.
  5. If you can wait, set a price alert on the Series X page or the Series S page and we will email you when it drops.
