refurbed iPhone: is refurbed legit, what its grades mean, and the cheapest refurbished iPhone today

refurbed is a Vienna marketplace selling through UK refurbishers with a 12-month warranty and a 30-day trial, read on 30/10/2026: its Trustpilot score, its Good to Premium grades, its iPhone prices against Back Market, and the cheapest refurbished iPhone of every model across the shops we compare.

Most people who type "refurbed iphone" mean a refurbished iPhone, and some mean the shop called refurbed. This post answers both, in that order: who refurbed is and whether to trust it, then its iPhone prices against Back Market and the other shops, then the cheapest refurbished iPhone of every model we compare. On 30/10/2026 we read refurbed's about, warranty, returns and product-condition pages, its Trustpilot profile, the public company register, and its listing and Back Market's listing for the same iPhone the same day.

Is refurbed legit?

Yes. refurbed is Refurbed Marketplace GmbH, an Austrian company registered at the Vienna commercial court as FN 590622m, at Jakov-Lind-Straße 7, 1020 Vienna, founded in 2017 by Peter Windischhofer, Kilian Kaminski and Jürgen Riedl and now selling in 24 European markets. It is a marketplace, not a refurbisher: its about page says so, the refurbishers it vets do the work and sell the phone, and every listing we opened on the UK site named a UK seller and said "Shipped from: United Kingdom". Every product carries a 12-month warranty from the seller and a 30-day trial in which you can send it back for a full refund with the seller paying the return postage.

Two things to know before you buy. The seller of record is the refurbisher, named on the product page under "Sale & shipping": on 30/10/2026 the iPhones we read came from 4gadgets, Refurb Phone UK, Ultimo Electronics, aiodistribution Ltd and a seller called 100x, and a warranty claim goes to that seller through your refurbed account, with refurbed's customer service registering it. And there is no UK company behind the site: Companies House showed no active company trading as refurbed on 30/10/2026, so your contract is with the UK refurbisher and the marketplace is Austrian, which matters only if something goes wrong and you need to take it further than the warranty. The UK site has a free phone line, Monday to Friday 9 to 5, and takes Pay in 3 at checkout.

What do refurbed reviews say?

On 30/10/2026 refurbed's Trustpilot profile, which covers all its country sites and is where refurbed.co.uk's reviews go, showed 4.6 from 218,436 reviews, 52,437 of them in the last 12 months, with 80% at five stars and 6% at one. The profile was claimed in June 2019, refurbed pays for a Trustpilot subscription, invites its customers to review and had replied to 99% of its negative reviews. For comparison, Trustpilot's own listing the same day gave Back Market's UK site 4.3 from 43,000 reviews, and on 25/10/2026 musicMagpie had 4.5 from 365,915.

The recent reviews read like a marketplace's. The good ones say the phone looked better than its grade, arrived fast and worked as described. The complaints are about two things the marketplace model produces: a buyer who did not realise refurbed is a platform rather than the seller, and a laptop that arrived with a European plug because the seller was abroad. Our iPhone reads found only UK sellers, but the plug complaint is a reason to check the "Shipped from" line on anything other than a phone. Is Back Market legit? covers the same questions for refurbed's nearest rival, which works the same way.

What do refurbed's grades mean?

refurbed sells in four conditions, and its product-conditions page, read on 30/10/2026, defines them by what you can see from 30 centimetres and by the battery:

  • Premium: screen and body "identical to new", battery at 90% or more of its original capacity.
  • Excellent: looks like new, "no dents, scratches or other signs of use visible from a distance of 30cm", battery at 85% or more on phones.
  • Very Good: signs of use visible from 30 centimetres, micro-scratches on the display that disappear when it is on, battery at 85% or more.
  • Good: visible scratches or slight dents on the body, fine micro-scratches on the display invisible when it is on, battery at 85% or more.

Every grade "works like new", is reset to factory settings, unlocked for all networks and data-wiped, and some listings offer a new battery for a few pounds more: on 30/10/2026 the iPhone 14 128GB in Good came with a new battery for £274.99 or the standard "Optimal" battery for £5 less. Two warnings from the warranty conditions. The battery is a consumable and is not covered if its capacity stays within normal limits, water resistance is not covered at all because refurbishment can compromise it, and a refund outside the trial period is "the current fair market value of the Product", not what you paid. The grade sits in refurbed's web addresses as a code, from gradeC for Good up to gradeAA for Premium, which is how it reaches our pages: a refurbed row shows "Grade C" where its page says Good, and "Grade AA" where it says Premium.

Is refurbed cheaper than Back Market for an iPhone?

Usually not, and often not by much. On 30/10/2026 we read both shops' pages for six iPhones. Back Market's cheapest grade was cheaper on all six, by £2 to £113, but on the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 16 the gap was £7 or less and refurbed's bottom grade, Good, cost less than Back Market's Good. Where refurbed is cheapest on our pages is Samsung and Pixel phones, not iPhones: on 28/10/2026 it had the Galaxy S25 128GB at £375, the lowest refurbished price on that page, and on 30/10 at £398 against £399.99 from an eBay seller. On the iPhones below it was never the lowest price.

Back Market £360 in Fair (black, madina mobiles limited), £370 in Good, £399.99 in Premium. Cheapest other shop: Amazon Renewed £388; Cheapest Electrical on eBay £429.79 in Excellent. refurbed £113 over Back Market

Back Market £633 in Good (Desert Titanium), £689 in Excellent, £704 in Premium, and its Fair oddly dearer at £747. Cheapest other shop: musicMagpie £729.99 in Good; idoodirect on eBay £759.99 in Very Good. refurbed £101 over Back Market's Good
refurbed's prices are the cheapest in-stock grade on each product page on 30/10/2026, with the grade, colour and seller as the page showed them. Back Market's are its condition and colour prices on each product page the same day, before its Quality Assurance Fee of 49p or more at checkout; the iPhone 15 is from our read of its page on 28/10. eBay listings read at source on 30/10/2026 with the seller and returns as shown; Amazon Renewed and musicMagpie from our reads of their pages on 30/10. All prices include delivery.

Two patterns. Grade for grade, refurbed is closer than the headline suggests: its Good undercut Back Market's Good on the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 16, and Back Market's lower price on both came from its Fair grade, a rung refurbed does not sell. Where refurbed loses clearly is on the phones it has few of: one listing almost sold out for the 15 Pro, the 16 Pro Max and the 17, and none at all for the 16e in white, so its price is a single refurbisher's price, not a market. On the three Pro and Pro Max models we also hold, from our reads on 28/10 and 30/10, refurbed was £39 over Back Market on the 16 Pro 128GB (£558 against £519), £13 over on the 15 Pro Max 256GB (£487 in Good against £474 in Fair) and, in the other direction, £18 under on the 17 Pro 256GB (£793 in Good against £811 in Excellent), the one iPhone where it led.

Here is refurbed against Back Market on the refurbished iPhones both stocked that day, from the last prices we read. Our reads run overnight, so a price can be a day behind the page: Back Market's 16 Pro Max 512GB was £737 in Fair at our read on 30/10/2026 and £633 in Good on its page that evening.

What is the cheapest refurbished iPhone in the UK today?

An iPhone 14 128GB at £233 in Fair on Back Market, and for a phone with Apple Intelligence an iPhone 16e 128GB at £360 in Fair, also on Back Market. Here is the cheapest refurbished price we found for each model on 30/10/2026 across the shops we compare, with the shop and grade; each row links the page where every shop's price sits.

Prices read on the shops' pages on 30/10/2026 unless a row says otherwise, where the figure is from our last read of that page. Every row is the cheapest grade in stock, named; a Fair phone at Back Market has "visible signs of use", and a Good one at refurbed visible scratches or slight dents. eBay rows are business sellers with returns, read at source; a private seller never sets a refurbished price here.

Back Market is the cheapest on eleven of the thirteen models, ten of them through its Fair grade, which is what a bottom grade is for; an eBay seller led on the iPhone 17 and refurbed on the 17 Pro. If the grade matters more than the last £20, compare Good with Good: on 30/10/2026 refurbed's Good was within £10 of Back Market's Good on the 14 and the 15 Pro, and £36 under it on the 16. For which model is worth buying refurbished at all, where to buy a refurbished iPhone in the UK walks through the sellers, and Back Market vs Amazon Renewed compares the other marketplace with a guarantee.

How OwlyFinds shows refurbed

refurbed's prices reach us through Kelkoo Group's offer feed rather than from reading refurbed.co.uk, and we match each offer to the product the page is about before it is listed. Kelkoo pays us a few pence each time someone clicks through to refurbed, whether or not they buy, as our affiliate disclosure says; it does not change the order prices are shown in, and when we check a refurbed price for a guide like this one we read refurbed's own page, so a check never counts as a click.

Every refurbed row is in our refurbished section, whatever its grade, because every grade carries the 12-month seller warranty and the 30-day trial. The row shows the grade as the feed sends it, Grade C for Good through Grade AA for Premium, and the price of the cheapest grade in stock, with the other grades listed under it. Every row shows when we last read it, and a refurbed price can lag its page by a day because the feed updates overnight, so the price box on refurbed's page is the one to trust on the day. How OwlyFinds compares prices has the rest.

What to do

  1. If you meant a refurbished iPhone, start from the cheapest grade you would accept, not the shop: on 30/10/2026 Back Market's Fair was the cheapest iPhone of most models, and refurbed's Good was within £10 of Back Market's Good on two of them and under it on the 16.
  2. On refurbed, read the "Sale & shipping" line: it names the refurbisher your contract and warranty are with, and "Shipped from: United Kingdom" is the line that rules out a European plug or a long return.
  3. Check the battery option. A new battery added £5 to £105 on the refurbed listings we read, and the battery is the one part its warranty does not cover while capacity stays within normal limits.
  4. Use the 30 days. Both refurbed and Back Market take a change-of-mind return in that window with the seller paying postage; after it, refurbed's refund is the phone's market value, not your price.
  5. Our iPhone pages show refurbed beside Back Market, musicMagpie, Amazon Renewed, eBay and the shops, with the time each price was read, and this week's price drops shows what got cheaper.
