Argos on eBay: what the Argos outlet sells, its grades and returns, and is it cheaper than Argos?

Argos's own eBay outlet, read on 30/10/2026: who runs it, its Excellent, Very Good and Good refurbished grades, 60 days' returns and a 12-month warranty, and its prices against Argos and the other shops on iPhones, Galaxy phones and an iPad.

Type "argos ebay" into Google and the first page is eBay's own store page and forum threads asking whether it is really Argos. It is. Argos has sold on eBay under its own name since 2002, and its outlet is one of the two shop-run eBay stores whose listings reach our pages, the other being Currys Clearance. On 30/10/2026 we read the store's About tab and business details, the condition text on each refurbished grade, eBay's Money Back Guarantee page, sixteen of its listings for products we compare, and Argos's own price for the same products on argos.co.uk the same day.

What is Argos's eBay outlet?

It is Argos selling as itself. The store's About tab gives the eBay username as argos, the business name as Argos Limited, company number 01081551, with its address at 33 Charterhouse Street, London EC1M 6HA, which is Sainsbury's head office, and a contact email on a Sainsbury's domain. Its blurb reads "The official outlet for Argos on eBay". On 30/10/2026 it had been a member since 10 October 2002, with 99% positive feedback, 8.5 million items sold, 187,000 followers and a feedback score of 2,836,592, and every listing carried eBay's "Direct from ARGOS" badge, which eBay gives to an item "sold directly by the brand".

Every listing we opened was dispatched from Oldham with free DPD next-day delivery, offered Click & Collect at an Argos store chosen at checkout, and accepted returns for 60 days with Argos paying the return postage. That is twice the window Currys Clearance gives, and the Click & Collect option is the outlet's: you can buy a refurbished iPhone on eBay and pick it up from an Argos counter.

What does it sell, and what do its grades mean?

Phones, tablets, TVs, laptops, headphones, smart-home kit, bikes, kitchen appliances, vacuums and games. The phone shelf is the deep one: iPhones from the 11 to the 17 Pro and the iPhone Air, and Galaxy phones from the A17 to the S26, almost all of them refurbished. Of the 60 cheapest Galaxy listings on 30/10/2026, 28 were Very Good, 26 Excellent and 6 Good, and none was new. What it did not have on 30/10/2026 was a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series console in any condition, only games, controllers, headsets and a Nintendo Switch OLED and Switch Lite, so a console buyer will find nothing here. Its iPads were odd sizes for our pages: a 2022 iPad 10.9-inch with cellular, an iPad 11 (A16) in 512GB and 13-inch iPad Airs.

The conditions are eBay's four, and Argos adds "Refurb Good" to the title of its lowest grade. The seller notes on each listing, read on 30/10/2026, are eBay's standard refurbished definitions, and Argos's listings use them word for word:

  • Excellent - Refurbished: "no to minimal signs of use", fully functional, professionally refurbished, tested, inspected and cleaned.
  • Very Good - Refurbished: "minimal wear", otherwise the same.
  • Good - Refurbished: "moderate wear", otherwise the same. Every Argos Good listing says Refurb Good in the title.
  • New: sealed stock, on some of its iPads, TVs and accessories rather than its phones.
  • Pre-owned: used games with no grade.

Every refurbished grade "includes original or new accessories and may come in generic packaging", and the item specifics on each listing name a "12 Month Return To Base Parts and Labour Warranty". We saw no "Opened – never used" listings on 30/10/2026, so unlike Currys Clearance there is no opened-box tier here. One wrinkle from the day's reading: the Good iPhone 14 at £425.55 carried the Very Good notes, "minimal wear", under a Refurb Good title, so read the condition line and the notes both. On our pages a listing in any of the three grades appears in the refurbished section and a New listing in the new section, and the grade words across shops are in refurbished phone grades explained.

What about returns and warranty?

Three layers, which is one more than most eBay sellers give. The first is eBay's Money Back Guarantee, whose policy page, read on 30/10/2026, covers anything bought on eBay.co.uk and paid at eBay's checkout for 30 days from the estimated or actual delivery date: a full refund including postage if the item does not arrive, and a return for a full refund if it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described. The terms are set out in is it safe to buy tech on eBay?.

The second is Argos's own returns: 60 days, change of mind included, with Argos paying the return postage. Private sellers mostly accept no returns, and the business refurbishers on our pages give 30 or 60 days, sometimes at the buyer's cost, so 60 days paid is as good as eBay gets. The third is the 12-month warranty on refurbished items, which eBay's refurbished programme describes as "provided by the seller, UK only", with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 underneath it as with any UK business. What you do not get is Argos's store-counter returns: an eBay purchase goes back through eBay's returns flow, not over the counter at Argos.

Is Argos cheaper on eBay than at Argos?

For a refurbished iPhone 15, 16 or 16e, yes, by £115 to £294 depending on the grade. On the iPhone 14 and the Galaxy A36, no: Argos itself sold a new phone for less than its outlet asked for a refurbished one. And on every iPhone a rival refurbisher or another eBay business seller undercut the outlet, often by £100 or more.

Argos on eBay's prices are the listed prices read on each listing on 30/10/2026, before eBay's coupon codes that day (3% off its phones, 20% capped at £75 off its other items). Argos's prices read on its search pages the same day. The other shops: the eBay rows read at source on 30/10/2026 with the seller and returns as shown on each listing; Back Market, refurbed, A1 Tech Deals and Gadcet from our own reads of their pages, dated where they are not from 30/10. Every Argos on eBay listing carried free delivery; eBay postage is added where a seller charged it.

Three patterns. The outlet's saving is real on the current iPhones, £140.76 to £293.97 under Argos's new price at the cheapest grade, and that is what it is for. It is priced from Argos's new price, not from the market: on the iPhone 14 Argos had cut its own new price to £394.63 while the outlet still asked £425.55 for a Good one, and on the Galaxy A36 the Excellent grade at £322.99 cost £3 more than a sealed one at Argos. And it is never the cheapest refurbished price: on every iPhone in the table a refurbisher or another eBay business seller with its own returns was lower, by £28.45 on the 16e and by £186.55 on the iPhone 14.

On our pages the eBay row is whichever listing passed our checks at the lowest price in its condition, not the shop's outlet, so Argos's listings sit on some pages and not others. On 30/10/2026 the refurbished eBay row on the Galaxy A36 page was Argos's own Very Good Lavender at £305.99. On the iPhone 16e and 16 pages it was Cheapest Electrical, on the iPhone 15 page SellMyPhone, on the iPhone 14 page Loop_Mobile, all business sellers, and on the iPhone Air page another refurbisher at £607.99. Here is eBay against Argos on eight products both sold new that day, from the last prices we read; the eBay side is the cheapest new listing on each page, which was not an Argos listing on any of them:

eBay vs Argos: new pricesChecked 20:10, 30/10/2026

Of 8 products with a price at both shops today, eBay is cheaper on 6, Argos on 2.

When is a private seller cheaper still, and what do you give up?

On the new side, almost always, and with nothing behind the price. On 30/10/2026 the cheapest new iPhone 16 128GB on our page was £562.60 plus £11.95 postage from a private seller in Maidstone with 188 ratings and 14 days' returns at the buyer's cost, against Argos's outlet at £564.44 for an Excellent refurbished one with 60 days and a year's warranty, and £799 new at Argos. The cheapest new iPhone 15 128GB was £491.20 from a private seller with 134 ratings and no returns accepted. The cheapest new iPhone Air was £695.20 plus £11.95 postage from a private seller in Manchester, 14 days' returns at your cost, against the outlet's Good at £721.78. And the new Galaxy A36 at £250.30 came from a private seller in Huddersfield taking no returns, £72.69 under the outlet's Excellent grade and £69.69 under a new one at Argos.

A private seller's listing is covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee for 30 days if it does not arrive or is not as described, and by nothing after that: no returns for a change of mind, no warranty when the battery fails in month four, and no business to take a Consumer Rights Act claim to. Is eBay cheaper than Amazon and the shops? counted 74 products on 24/10/2026 and found six of the eight biggest eBay savings came from private sellers. So the choice on eBay is between three kinds of seller: a shop's outlet like Argos or Currys Clearance, with the longest returns and a warranty; a business refurbisher like Cheapest Electrical or Loop_Mobile, usually cheaper, with 30 to 60 days' returns; and a private seller, cheapest of all, with the least behind it.

One more thing an Argos price on eBay will not do is move Argos. Does Argos price match? explains that Argos does not price match anyone, its own eBay outlet included, so the way to the lower price is to buy it there, not to ask the counter.

How OwlyFinds shows eBay listings

Every eBay row on our pages is the cheapest fixed-price listing that passed our checks in its condition: no auctions, a seller with at least 50 ratings and 98% positive feedback, UK delivery, no damage, fault or lock words in the title, no listings that send you to the description, no parts or repair kits, one model and one capacity per title, a price neither too low nor too high to be the product, nothing out of line with the other prices in that condition, and a cheap new phone only from a seller with 500 or more ratings. The condition stays as the seller listed it: New counts as new, Excellent, Very Good and Good - Refurbished count as refurbished, and an "Opened – never used" listing sits in its own open box section, out of the lowest price, the head-to-head tables and price alerts. A used listing never sets a page's lowest price. Every row shows when we last read it, and a row we have not read for seven days shows "Check price" instead of a figure.

We do not read the seller's name when we pick a row, which is why Argos's outlet is the eBay row on the Galaxy A36 page and not on the iPhone pages, and we do not follow our own eBay links when we check a price, so a check never counts as a click. eBay pays us a commission through the eBay Partner Network when a purchase follows a click from our pages, as the affiliate disclosure says; it does not change which listing we show or the order of the prices.

What to do

  1. Check the seller's name under the title before the price: the outlet is argos, with the "Direct from ARGOS" badge, 60 days' returns and a one-year guarantee on every listing. Other business sellers list the same phones in the same grades with shorter returns.
  2. Check Argos's own price the same day. On 30/10/2026 a new iPhone 14 and a new Galaxy A36 at Argos cost less than the outlet's refurbished ones, because the outlet prices from Argos's old price, not the current one.
  3. Buy the grade, not the title. Good means moderate wear, Excellent means little or none, and the warranty is the same 12 months on all three. Read the seller notes as well as the condition line.
  4. Compare with the refurbishers: on 30/10/2026 Back Market, Cheapest Electrical, SellMyPhone and Loop_Mobile all undercut Argos's outlet on the current iPhones, most of them with returns of their own.
  5. Pay through eBay's checkout and test everything in the first 30 days while both the Money Back Guarantee and Argos's 60 days are open. Pick Click & Collect at checkout if you want it in your hands tomorrow without waiting in for DPD.
