Refurbished PS5 Pro UK: is it worth it, and what it costs

On 5 November 2026 the only refurbished PS5 Pro we found was £1,049 on eBay, £259 more than a new one, and used ones started at £924.70. What to check on a Pro, and when new is the better buy.

A refurbished PS5 Pro cost £1,049 when we looked on 5 November 2026, and it was the only one we found from a shop we compare: a console graded Excellent from a business seller on eBay, with a 12-month warranty from the seller, 30 days' returns and no box. That is £259.01 more than a new PS5 Pro at John Lewis (£789.99) and £260 more than at Currys (£789), though both had sold out online that evening. Amazon Renewed had no PS5 Pro in stock, and nor did Currys. So no: at those prices a refurbished PS5 Pro is not worth it. Every price below was read at the shop or on the listing on 5 November 2026, between 21:28 and 21:36.

eBay: UK sellers, Buy It Now, sorted by price and postage, the PS5 Pro 2TB console only; business listings read on the listing page. eBay's MOREVALUE12 code took the refurbished console to £1,017.53 in the search results, a code that ends on 11 November. We cannot read Argos's site at the moment; our Argos row last said £789.99 and in stock on 2 November 2026. Back Market and musicMagpie's own site showed us a security check rather than their pages, so they are not in this read.

When we last checked refurbished PS5 prices, on 18/10/2026, the cheapest refurbished Pro was £879 on Amazon Renewed, £90 more than new. On 5 November the gap was wider, and there was less to choose from: one refurbished console, at £259.01 over a new one.

Is a refurbished PS5 Pro worth it?

Not while it costs more than a new one, and on 5 November 2026 it cost a lot more. Refurbished and used Pro prices follow what resellers ask for a sealed console, not Sony's price of £789.99. With Currys and John Lewis sold out online, new Pros on eBay were listed from £981.65 with postage, and the second-hand ones sat just under them. GTA 6 is due on PlayStation 5 on 19/11/2026 (Rockstar's own page, read on 02/11/2026) and Black Friday is on 27/11/2026, so the next few weeks are a poor time to pay a premium for anyone's used console.

A refurbished Pro becomes worth it when it costs clearly less than £789.99 and still comes with a warranty. Until then, the box further down shows our latest check of each shop, and a price alert on the PS5 Pro page with Refurbished ticked tells you when one drops.

Does Currys sell a refurbished PS5?

Not on 5 November 2026. Currys's own search for "refurbished ps5 pro" and "refurbished playstation 5" listed only new consoles, bundles and accessories. Currys sells its returns graded and refurbished through its eBay shop, Currys Clearance (how that works), and that shop had no PS5 console of any kind when we searched it at 21:30.

What do the grades mean on a PS5 Pro?

On eBay a refurbished console is graded Excellent, Very Good or Good, and the grade describes how it looks, not how it works. The £1,049 console was graded Excellent on eBay and Grade A by the seller, who described it as having "small tiny scratches here and there from everyday use". A console from a business seller should work fully at any grade, and one that sits under the TV hides its marks, so a lower grade is usually the sensible saving when there is one to be had. What each grade means.

What to check on a refurbished or used PS5 Pro

  1. That it is a Pro, with 2TB. The PS5 Pro was only ever sold with a 2TB drive, and its model number starts CFI-70 or CFI-71. A "PS5 Pro" with 825GB or 1TB is a Slim, and eBay's refurbished search for "ps5 pro console" on 5 November also brought up PS4 consoles from £109.99, so read the title and the model number before the price.
  2. The disc drive, sold separately. The Pro has no disc drive. Sony's add-on drive, sold for the Digital Edition and fitting the Pro too, was £69.99 at Currys on 5 November 2026 and in stock. Some used listings include one: a Pro with the drive and five games was £1,000 on eBay. The Pro also comes without a vertical stand.
  3. The controller and cables. A Pro comes with one DualSense controller. The refurbished one we read listed the controller, an HDMI cable and a power lead; the £1,049.99 used console from TahTech listed one controller. Ask about stick drift, and test both sticks when it arrives.
  4. The warranty and the returns. The refurbished console came with a 12-month warranty from the seller and 30 days' returns, with the seller paying the return postage. The two used consoles from business sellers came with 30 days' returns, the buyer paying the postage, and no warranty. A private seller usually takes no returns; eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a console that arrives faulty or not as described, for 30 days, but eBay says it is not a product warranty.
  5. The firmware and the account. Some listings lead with "low firmware", which matters to people who modify consoles and is priced for them: the cheapest used Pro on 5 November, £924.70, was one. Walk away from any listing that mentions a restricted or banned PlayStation Network account.

More on buying a used console, and on eBay's protection, is in second hand PS5: what it costs and what to check.

When does used beat refurbished?

On 5 November 2026, when the used console comes from a business with returns. The boxed Pro from Datshmates Gadgets at £949.99 cost £99.01 less than the refurbished one at £1,049, and came with 30 days to send it back. What the extra £99.01 bought was a 12-month warranty and free return postage. Much of what can be wrong with a used console (a loud fan, a dead HDMI port, a controller that drifts) shows up in the first days of use, so 30 days to test it covers a good part of the risk; the warranty covers the rest.

A private seller saved almost nothing on 5 November: £929.99 delivered against £949.99 from the business. For £20, take the returns.

When is new the better buy?

Whenever you can get one at £789 or £789.99. A new Pro at that price was £140 cheaper than the cheapest used one delivered and £259.01 cheaper than the refurbished one on 5 November 2026, and it comes sealed, with the maker's warranty and the shop's returns.

The catch was stock. Currys and John Lewis had both sold out online, Amazon itself was not selling one, and the cheapest new Pros on eBay came from resellers at £981.65 and up. Paying a reseller nearly £200 over Sony's price is no better than paying it for a refurbished console. Is the PS5 Pro in stock? has where to look, and the box below shows each shop as we last checked it.

When we read this box on 5 November, our Currys row still said in stock while Currys's own page said sold out, so check the shop's page before you count on it.

Is the PS5 Pro the right console at all?

The Pro earns its price on a 4K TV with games made for it; on anything else a PS5 Slim plays the same games for less. PS5 vs PS5 Pro: is the Pro worth it? sets out the difference. If you want a refurbished console to save money, the Slim is the place to look: refurbished PS5: is it worth it? covers the grades, the sellers and which models are which, and the cheapest PS5 in the UK has every console's lowest price.

What to do

  1. Check the new price first: £789 at Currys and £789.99 at John Lewis on 5 November 2026, both sold out online that evening.
  2. Do not pay more than that for a refurbished or used Pro: on 5 November the cheapest refurbished one was £1,049 and the cheapest used one £929.99 delivered.
  3. If you buy second hand, buy from a business with at least 30 days' returns, and check the model number (CFI-70 or CFI-71), the 2TB drive, the controller and the cables.
  4. Budget £69.99 for the disc drive if you play discs.
  5. Set a price alert on the PS5 Pro page and let the shops come back into stock before Black Friday on 27/11/2026.
